Island Place is owned and operated by Melissa Collier DeVos and family. The Collier Family is native to Bar Harbor and have called Bar Harbor home for decades. Melissa was born and raised here in Bar Harbor and grew up in the lodging business. The Collier’s owned and operated the Bar Harbor Motel for 22 years. In 2012 Melissa bought the Primrose Inn Bed and Breakfast, and in 2015 purchased the 10 unit motel across the street. The motel was completely renovated and the name was changed to Primrose Place. In November of 2019 Melissa sold the Primrose Inn. With the change of ownership of the Primrose Inn, Melissa has changed the name of Primrose Place to Island Place. Same owner, different name. Melissa and her staff look forward to serving the thousands of guests from all over the world and assist in their quest to relax and recharge.
